“I want to turn an "ugh, I hate rose scents" into an "oh, I actually like this".”
She has worn almost nothing but rose since she began wearing perfume, and she fixed the rose as the subject of her own line before anything else was settled. Three years on, there is still one perfume, rose douce, an extrait de parfum at 30 per cent fragrance oil with natural Damask rose oil in the heart. Behind it sit years in the fragrance industry alongside perfumers who taught her to pay attention to smell, a village in Swabia she left at fifteen for a school year in Texas, and a cousin who brought her back to painting and museum visits, where the concept took shape.
