“We want to be a neighbourhood café, where people from the district can run into each other and get to know one another over a quick coffee.”
Suuapinga grew from one room in Schwabing into five cafés that roast their own coffee and bake their own bread. Lucas Wiltfang and Peter Baumann met working in bars and cafés, and Wiltfang had wanted a shop of his own for years; Emanuel Etzersdorfer joined as the third, bringing architecture to their political science and mathematics and philosophy backgrounds. The three took a room on Herzogstraße in November 2020, fought the building office for a permit, and opened the following June. All three still run the company together.
