“I wanted to know every person who touches the shoe before you do.”
Wayz is two people in Porto. Pedro Maçana spent eighteen years at Decathlon, the last of them as a director at its head office in Lille, then moved his family home and enrolled on a footwear design course at forty-two. Daniel Gonçalves was on the same course, a product designer and the one of the two who had always been obsessed with sneakers. Daniel draws the shoes and Pedro runs everything else, and they work in the middle of the region that has made a good share of Europe's footwear for over a century.
