“The yoga community deserved better than brands built on exploitation. I needed activewear that lived up to the philosophy of Ahimsa, so I built it myself.”
Studio Nidra started with a problem on Nicolas Witt's own yoga mat: he could not find pieces that held up the way he wanted, so instead of starting with a cut, he started with the cloth itself. Working with the textile house Pyratex, he developed a knit built on Tencel with recycled elastane for stretch and hold, then placed the sewing in Braga, in northern Portugal, by hand and in small numbers. He designs from Zürich, where he practises, and has kept the range deliberately short: leggings, a hybrid top, sweatshirts, socks.
